Legionella Risk Assesment

If you control premises, you have a legal duty to assess and manage the risk of legionella. This includes workplaces, housing (public or private landlords), schools, care settings, public buildings.

Second Element makes compliance straightforward. Our qualified specialists carry out detailed legionella bacteria risk assessments that identify potential hazards in your water systems and define what actions are needed to control them.

Our reports are clear, practical, and designed to help you meet your legal duties — without the jargon.

Stay compliant. Reduce risk. Get the expert clarity you need

Most of our clients choose to outsource their water hygiene monitoring to us. However, if you prefer to manage parts in house, we will tailor our service to your needs and can provide City & Guilds Assured training to upskill your team and ensure ongoing compliance.

Smart Record Keeping for Compliance

Under COSHH, accurate record keeping is a legal requirement — and Second Element makes it simple.

Our bespoke digital reporting platform ensures that all monitoring, inspections and remedial actions are documented in real time. Clients have secure web-based access to view compliance records, service reports and system performance data — anytime, from anywhere.

This allows you to:

  • Maintain a clear, auditable trail for inspections
  • Track progress against compliance goals
  • Respond quickly to risk indicators
  • Share data internally or with regulators

Remote Monitoring Options

We also provide remote temperature monitoring systems for hot and cold water outlets. These smart sensors capture frequent readings at key points, helping to detect control failures early without the need for manual visits.

Remote monitoring is ideal for:

  • Outlying or satellite sites
  • Hard-to-reach plant rooms and systems
  • Locations with challenging access or service users

Data is securely transmitted and presented for remote review and rapid response.

Remedial Works

Even with a robust control regime in place, your water systems may still require modifying or other remedial works to reduce the risk of Legionnaires’ disease and remain legally compliant — and sometimes, things just need fixing.

Second Element has a dedicated team of legionella-trained engineers and qualified specialists, including Water Authority Approved operatives, who carry out a wide range of remedial and mechanical works, including:

  • Removal of dead legs and redundant pipework
  • TMV installation, servicing or replacement
  • Tank reconfiguration, upgrades or insulation
  • Pipework modifications to improve flow and temperature control
  • Replacement of non-compliant fittings and materials

All work is completed to the standards required under Water Regulations, ACOP L8 and HSG274.

Quick mobilisation. Expert execution. Documented compliance.

Tank Cleaning & Disinfection

Clean water storage and systems are a vital part of your legionella control strategy. Over time, tanks can accumulate sediment, scale and organic matter, creating ideal conditions for bacterial growth, including Legionella.

Second Element provides specialist cleaning and disinfection services for hot and cold water systems. Our trained teams use a range of safe, effective methods to ensure your tanks and pipework remain clean, compliant and low risk.
